Malaya Project : Making Waves Art Exhibit

The Malaya Project is excited to announce it's participation in the Making Waves Art Exhibit : Celebrating the Asian Pacific American Experience, on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley.  

We will be exhibiting the complete photo series of Allison Santos.

ABOUT MAKING WAVES:

Inspired by the different waves of Asian Pacific Americans throughout history, Making Waves celebrates the diverse experience and histories of the APA community. Making Waves is an opportunity to challenge the category and identity of ‘APA’. We remember and acknowledge the ongoing APA struggles and movements while examining closer what it means to be APA. Identity categories such as APA can not only lead to affirmation of identity and coalition building, but also erasure of different cultures, ethnicities, and languages. With this exhibit we acknowledge and resist against this erasure, and strive for a more complex understanding of Asian Pacific American communities. Through the Making Waves exhibit, we hope to not only swim through the rich histories and experiences of the APA community, but also celebrate the way we, as APA individuals and communities, make our own waves in the forms of new ideas, understandings, and activisms.
